Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford (born April 14, 1980) was an American actor, singer as well as a dancer. Her early performances on Broadway include in the musicals Wicked Legally Blonde and Hair. The actress was awarded the Tony Award for Best Featured actress in a Play for playing Essie Carmichael from You Can't Take It With You. Tony Award-winning actress Annaleigh Ashford is a veteran of her career working alongside renowned actors and directors in the stage, film and TV and she will continue that collaboration with a variety of upcoming projects. Ashford's upcoming project is an exclusive Hulu series called Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show will premiere on the 22nd of November and Ashford plays opposite Kumail Najiani. Ashford is currently working on Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust with Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch-Bachrach. The film will be released on Hulu Original on Disney DTC. Ashford is set to return in 2023. He will play opposite Josh Groban at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in the revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), the same team who produced Hamilton is directing the show. Ashford was last seen as Paula Jones in Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment. The show centers around the National Crisis, which saw Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp at the center of the first impeachment proceeding in America over a Century. Two seasons ago, Ashford was a star of CBS's hit series B Positive. It was produced by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. It featured Linda lavin Sheryl Crow, Hector Elizondo as well as Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. The role she played as Essie in You Can't Take It with You was a winner of the Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Her additional Broadway performances are Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and her first role as Lauren in Kinky Boots a performance for which she also received a Tony Award nomination. Born and raised in Denver Ashford now splits the time in Los Angeles and New York.
